With so many clothes and accessories available with just the click of a mouse it can be daunting to try and shift through them all. We all want to make sure our clothing presents us in the best way possible and the easiest way to make sure you do that is by developing a unique personal style. This article will try and offer you tips to find what kind of style best suits you.
One of the most helpful things you can do is an image search on a social media platform like Instagram or Pinterest. When looking at images, try to look beyond the model and focus on the outfits. Try to find combinations that speak to you and save those images for future reference. When still trying to figure out what outfits best suit you, try taking a picture of outfit combinations that you feel most comfortable in. Your understanding of your potential style should be growing, but the next place to look when developing your style is within… your wardrobe.
The kind of clothes you buy give you an understanding of what type of items you feel most comfortable wearing. So, look through your wardrobe and try to identify any patterns. The more a particular type of clothing appears, the more comfortable you are with that style of item. You should also try to identify common colour themes as these may provide further hints to your personal style. You should also look at your accessories, are they delightfully over-sized or simple and understated? Every piece you’ve bought says something about your style.
By now you should have a reasonable idea forming about what type of clothing you like. However, to find out what best suits you we need a more diverse range of opinions. Talk to friends and family about what outfits looked best on you. Try to get them to go into specifics on what it was about those clothes that made you look good. You should also identify the parts of yourself you most want to show off.
By this point you should have a clear understanding about what you like to wear and what you look good in. Then, all you have to do is find a way of bringing those two factors together. That’s your style. When doing this try to forget about the current fashion trends, you want to become a trendsetter.
